Hi everyone,

I need a working and clean BIOS dump for an HP Pro Tower 290 G9 PCI Desktop PC.

Unfortunately, the original BIOS chip was badly damaged and corrupted, so I don't have the backup/old original dump file to extract the data from.

Here are the official specifications of the machine taken directly from the chassis:

  • Model: HP Pro Tower 290 G9 PCI Desktop PC
  • Product No: 6D3A5EA
  • Serial No: 4ce243bb9v
  • BID: 22WW2DFD6 #SAB8 #DAB8
Could someone please provide a reliable 16MB clean ME or factory dump that matches this specific BID?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks for your reply. As requested, I have attached the BIOS dump that actually gives a display on the screen, but it shows the "BIOS Corrupted" error and freezes.

Please note that the original chip was destroyed, so this attached file is from another source that I managed to get a display with.

Here are the complete details of the motherboard and machine to help you fix it or rebuild a clean one:
  • Motherboard Model: AKALI RevA M11
Please check the attached file and help me clean the ME region or rebuild it so it boots without the corrupt error.

Thank you!

Here is the exact story of how I generated this attached file:

  1. I downloaded the official BIOS update from the HP website. (089B3)
  2. I then extracted the BIOS and mixed/modified it with a 089B4.bin dump file to get it to display.
  3. With this mixed file, the PC successfully turns on and gives a display, but it constantly triggers the "BIOS Corrupted" error screen.
  4. When I try to give it the Flash Recovery option, the system reboots into a completely black screen and nothing happens (it completely freezes).

note can not problem bios
Hi,

Thanks for the file. I programmed it, but unfortunately, it results in a completely Black Screen (No Display) and the system doesn't boot at all.

Let me give you the exact technical behavior of the machine and how I generated my previous working file (the one that initialized the display) so we can isolate the issue:

How I generated my working file:

  1. I downloaded the official, raw BIOS update capsule from the HP website and extracted both the BIOS Region and the CSME ME Region.
  2. The original CSME version from the raw official HP file is:
    • Version: 16.1.38.2676 (Size: 0x507000)
  3. I then took these extracted regions and replaced/mixed them into a dump file named 089B4.bin (which belonged to a different region/board variant).
The Result & Symptoms:

  • With this custom mixed file, the motherboard successfully initialized and gave a display in Manufacturing Mode.
  • However, after exactly 10 to 15 seconds, the system would completely freeze/hang, making it impossible to work.
  • After forcing a manual reboot 1 or 2 times, the motherboard would automatically trigger the "HP BIOS Recovery" screen loop.
This 15-second freeze followed by a recovery loop is a classic symptom of an Intel Watchdog Timer timeout triggered by a mismatched Flash Descriptor/VSCC table or FIT table alignment with the new 16.1.38 firmware, while the BIOS Region itself was fully functional and capable of initializing the display.

Since the dump you provided resulted in a complete Black Screen, it's highly likely that the CPU completely rejected its BIOS region or Descriptor.

Could you please take my mixed file (the one that successfully achieved display) and properly rebuild the Flash Descriptor, fix the layout alignment, and clear/clean the CSME region using the proper 16.1.38.2676 configurations so the Watchdog timer doesn't freeze the board?

Thank you for your professional support and expertise!
